No terms of the deal were announced.
The 27-year-old Morrisonn scored one goal and added 12 assists in 68 games for Washington last season and was scoreless in five playoff games. He added 163 hits and 104 blocked shots for the President's Trophy winners.
He has spent the last five seasons with the Capitals after breaking into the league in 2002 and playing his first two campaigns with Boston.
During the course of his seven seasons, he has notched 10 goals, 60 assists and 423 penalty minutes in 418 games.
